Balance and vestibular testing is used by clinicians to determine the source of specific symptoms following a concussion. These tests are performed by clinical specialists, and include a variety of tests used to elicit symptoms relating to the integration of balance, vision, and proprioception, also known as the vestibular system.

Examples of balance and vestibular testing include:

  • Balance Error Scoring System (BESS)
  • Dynamic Gait Index (DGI) / Functional Gait Assessment (FGA)
  • Exertion Testing
  • Modified Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction in Balance (mCTSIB)
  • Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex (VOR)
  • Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex Cancellation (VOR-C)
  • Visual Screening (Pursuits, Saccades, and Vergences)
